“General Overview of Château Fontvert, in the Heart of the Luberon

Nestled at the exit of the Combe de Lourmarin, one of the Most Beautiful Villages of France, Château Fontvert is a family estate spanning around twenty hectares. Here, the vine reigns supreme, cultivated with passion according to organic and biodynamic farming principles. This approach, certified by the highly demanding Demeter label, reflects a deep respect for this unique terroir in the Rhône Valley region.

Visiting Château Fontvert in the Luberon, you discover not just a vineyard, but a philosophy where nature and human expertise work in harmony to create wines of great finesse, whether red, white, or rosé.

What is the history of Château Fontvert?

The estate’s history is as rich as its terroir. The lands of Fontvert have been cultivated since Roman Antiquity, but it was in 1598 that the estate truly flourished. For more than three centuries, the same Huguenot family shaped this landscape, passing down their expertise from generation to generation.

In the mid-20th century, a new chapter began with the arrival of the Monod family, a lineage that would shape the modern history of the château. Dr. Olivier Monod, then mayor of Lourmarin, fell in love with the property. Later, his son Jérôme Monod and his grandsons decided to vinify their own grapes, giving rise in 1999 to the first vintages of Château Fontvert red wine and other cuvées.
It is this story, marked by continuity and renewal, that can be felt in every tasting.
